An minute video showing a young London based artist attempting to free herself from a sling hanging from a tree whilst naked has been selected for a prestigious award for emerging artists. Hilde Krohne Huse, a Norwegianer who has lived in London since she was 7-years-old, was filming what was supposed to be a two-second scene for a series of films she was making for an art project. Suspended naked from a tree in the Norwegian island of Aukra, the weight of her body made the noose around her ankle tighten and instead of filming a two second clip, she recorded herself for 11 minutes trying and failing to free herself.
An artist was left hanging naked in a tree for three-and-a-half hours after a video stunt went wrong. London-based artist Hilde Krohn Huse, from Norway, went into a forest near Aukra to film a video of herself hanging from a rope in a tree. But when the year-old finished filming, she realised she was unable to free herself. But I slept on it and realised that the video is quite decent.

We'll admit that we're not exactly up on performance art and high art in general, but this strikes us a bit Hidle Krohne Huse, a Norwegian artist living in England, came up with an art project that involved her hanging upside from a tree for in rural Surrey. We haven't exactly figured out the meaning behind it - maybe it's something about the futility of humanity in nature?
An artist whose naked stunt left her hanging upside down from a tree by her foot has won a prize for her video performance piece. Hilde Krohn Husea Norwegian-born British art school graduate, has been recognised for her 11 minute video "Hanging in the Woods" after being shortlisted for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries prize. The video sees the year-old successfully climb onto a tree trunk naked using two pieces of rope.
Artists are by nature, eccentric, unique and truly one-of-a-kind. They have their own ways of expressing themselves in ways majority of the public would not easily understand. We wonder how projects in art classes would be like that. We hope not all are as awry as this one.
We were staying in the house my father grew up in, on a sparsely populated island, and one afternoon I went out with my video camera and tripod, having briefly outlined what I planned to do. Most of my work involves film and performance, and the piece I was making required a fleeting shot of me hanging unclothed from a branch. I tied some safety knots in a length of rope.
Hilde Krohn Huse was stuck for so long that her camera battery went flat and she was only rescued when her cries for help were eventually heard by a friend. A naked artist was left hanging upside-down from a tree after a bizarre scene she was filming went embarrassingly wrong. Hilde Krohn Huse, a former student of the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey, was alone in the woods with her foot caught in a rope noose.
